So is weed legal for me?

Yes it is! Well, if you’re an adult 21 or over in the state of Illinois, then yes. Last May, the Illinois state House and Senate deliberated on whether to approve a bill known as the Cannabis Regulation and Tax act, a momentous measure that would totally decriminalize recreational marijuana, as well as establishing a taxed and regulated legal marijuana industry within the state. They ultimately approved it, at which point it was sent to Governor J.B. Pritzker, who was proud to sign it into law. Officially, this new legislation came into effect at the beginning of 2020, making Illinois the 11th state to legalize marijuana. In the face of almost 100 years of federal prohibition, that 22% of all US states have now legalized marijuana in just eight years seems huge, and a great sign of further changes to come.

Unsurprisingly, the federal government has been unmoved by this wave of progress, choosing instead to uphold its archaic and outdated federal regulations. One of these regulations prevents states from being able to export marijuana crops anywhere, even into other legal states. Naturally, this information may prevent a potential buyer from ordering pot seeds online, as the possible legal jeopardy would not be worth the trouble.
