Is weed legal yet?

Yes, as a matter of fact, it is! Well, if you happen to live in Illinois and are over the age of 21, then yes. This is actually a very recent development. Back in May of 2019, the Illinois state Senate and House deliberated on whether to approve the monumental bill known as the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act. Like the name might suggest, this bill sought to establish a statewide, taxed and regulated, legal marijuana industry, as well as totally decriminalize the use and possession of recreational marijuana. Ultimately good fortune won over, and the bill gained the approval it needed to be passed on to Governor J.B. Pritzker. A month later, Pritzker signed the bill into law, and it officially took effect at the beginning of 2020. Trailing just behind Michigan and Massachusetts, Illinois became the 11th state to legalize marijuana.

How do cannabinoids work?

If we are to think of marijuana as a ‘drug’, then cannabinoids are essentially the active chemical ingredients. We say ‘essentially’ because cannabinoids occur naturally, rather than being added in a mixing process as most clinical drugs would do. There are 113 cannabinoids that we know of, and they can have a wide range of effects on human physiology, though most of the attention gets focused on a select few cannabinoids.

Medical marijuana is known for having prominent levels of cannabinoid cannabidiol (CBD), which is primarily responsible for the medicinal and healing benefits that have helped so many people.
