So is weed legal here?

Sad to say, but marijuana is still considered illegal in Ohio, although there have been some recent developments that suggest a successful legalization movement could be a reality in the near future. One of these is Ohio’s establishment of a statewide medical marijuana program, which, for other states that have successfully legalized marijuana, has been an important precedent to set. Even though voters approved this program back in 2016, implementation has been rather slow, with the first licensed dispensaries not opening up shop until 2019. However, there are now almost 60 around the state, so it would appear that the program is doing well.

The other big development is the Cincinnati City Council’s recent decision to completely decriminalize recreational marijuana. Currently, low-level marijuana infractions carry a ‘reduced’ criminal status in Ohio, which is a start, but it still leaves too much room for oppressive fines and other punitive measures. Because of this, activists have been loudly campaigning to expand upon these decriminalization laws, with Cincinnati being their first major victory. This is a great sign of things to come, and hopefully will inspire other municipalities in the state to follow suit.

If we are to think of marijuana as a drug, then cannabinoids are essentially the active ingredients. They are naturally-occurring chemical compounds that can have a wide range of effects on human physiological functions.
