Is weed legal yet?

Unfortunately, recreational marijuana is not yet legal in the state of Ohio, although some recent development seem to suggest that public attitudes are changing toward this. The first of these is the recent establishment of a statewide medical marijuana program, which is an important step as it familiarizes the public with the concept of legal marijuana. Even though voters approved this measure back in 2016, delays have resulted in the first licensed dispensaries not opening until 2019. However, there are now almost 60 dispensaries in the state, so the program does appear to be doing well.

The other big development is the big push for the decriminalization of low-level marijuana infractions. These kinds of infractions currently hold a ‘reduced’ criminal status, but there has been a lot of public calls for total decriminalization all over the state. Recently, the Cincinnati City Council became the first major legislative body in the state to pass such an ordinance, so hopefully, this will add some fuel to the legalization fire.

How can I identify medical marijuana?

Generally, medical marijuana will have a higher concentration of the cannabinoid CBD, or cannabidiol.
