Growing Tips for Cactus
Cactus cannabis plants are easy to grow and are a perfect starter strain for novice growers. Cactus marijuana plants will thrive both indoors and outdoors, but have an easier time growing indoors because of the grower’s ability to manage the climate. If you choose to grow indoors, you will have to replicate a steady environment similar to the climate of the Mediterranean. Cactus seeds produce plants that are pale green with crystal resin trichomes covering the entirety of the bud sites. If you are going to grow outdoors, you will need to maintain a consistent temperature and humidity to grow these plants to harvest. Doing so will ensure that you grow potent and pungent buds from the top of the plants to the bottom. Having access to a greenhouse is the best way to give these plants the perfect outdoor climate they require without having to put up with unexpected outdoor variables. These plants grow short and can reach around 2-4 feet in height. Because the plants reach a maximum height of 4 feet, they don’t require as much space to grow as other cannabis strains. The ideal temperature for these plants is around 65-80 degrees Fahrenheit and slightly cooler at night. Humidity levels should be kept at 40-70% during the vegetative growth stage and the flowering stage. Growing indoors will ensure that the moderate humidity levels and higher temperatures are constant and maintained every day that the plants are in the growing stages. Topping, Low-stress training (LST), and the Screen of Green (ScrOG) training methods are the best techniques for this strain. Each of these methods promotes plant growth and bud development and will increase yields if performed correctly and at the right time. The Cactus strain requires an 18-20 hour light cycle to reach the vegetative stage of growth. Changing the light cycle to a 12/12 cycle will induce the flowering stage of growth and carry your plants all the way to harvest.
Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest
- Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect the Cactus strain to harvest after a short flowering period of 55-65 days.
- Yields: While Indoor yields are around 200 grams per square meter, outdoor grows typically produce up to 300 grams per plant. You can easily double or triple these smaller yields by planting multiple plants in a smaller grow area.
- Harvest: Outdoor growers can plan on harvesting their yields around the middle of October, depending on when the seeds were planted.
Cactus: Complex Cannabis Cultivar
The Cactus terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes, and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is myrcene, while ocimene and terpinolene are the secondary terpenes.
- Myrcene: Most Dominant – Known as the “Mother of all terpenes”, myrcene gives cannabis its earthy and aromatic profile.
- Ocimene: Secondary Terpene – Ocimene, when found in cannabis plants, offers a sweet and citrusy aroma.
- Terpinolene: Complex – Terpinolene has a woody and floral aroma in cannabis and can also be found in multiple plants in the natural world.

Oh the dankness of cactus….it’s so hard to describe and put into words….but it’s so bright and so powerful, has some very nice and bright green flower. It takes a good deal of love and practice to master growing this weed, but don’t get discouraged. I LOVE how well this worked out!!!
