Growing Tips for Ginger Ale
Ginger Ale is best suited for growers with an intermediate level of cannabis cultivation experience. Ginger Ale marijuana plants will thrive indoors and outdoors, but have an easier time growing indoors because of the ability to completely control the climate. If you choose to grow indoors, you will have to replicate a steady environment similar to the climate of the Mediterranean. Ginger Ale cannabis seeds grow into plants with thick, dense buds. The plants have smaller leaves that grow from within the bud sites. The bud sites are covered in brown and orange pistils, making the bud appear multi-colored.
If you choose to grow outdoors, you will need to hope for consistent temperature and humidity to grow these plants to completion. Doing so will ensure that you grow healthy buds from the top of the plants to the buds closest to the soil. Having access to a greenhouse is the best way to give these plants the perfect outdoor climate without having to put up with unexpected outdoor variables. These plants grow from short to tall heights and can reach around 2-8 feet tall. Because the plants reach a maximum indoor and outdoor height of less than 8 feet, you will need to provide these plants with ample room to grow both indoors and outdoors.
The ideal temperature for these plants is around 70-85 degrees Fahrenheit and slightly cooler at night. Humidity levels should be kept around 30-60% during the vegetative growth stage and the flowering stage, but lowering the humidity every week will help this plant grow. Growing indoors will ensure that the moderate humidity levels and moderate temperatures are consistent and maintained every day that the plants are in the growing stages.
Topping, fimming, Screen of Green (ScrOG), and Low-stress training (LST) methods are the best training techniques for this particular strain of cannabis. If performed correctly and at the right time, these techniques will promote bud production and increase final yields. LST manipulates the plants by tying down the branches to increase the size and density of the buds while allowing them to grow almost naturally. Topping is used to control the height of the plant and buds. The ScrOG method will help support the heavier bud sites so they don’t bend or break the branches. The Ginger Ale strain requires an 18-20 hour light cycle to reach the vegetative growth stage. Changing the light cycle to a 12/12 cycle will help to induce the flowering stage of growth and get your plants to harvest.
Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest
- Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect the Ginger Ale strain to harvest after a short flowering period of 55-65 days.
- Yields: While Indoor yields are around 500 grams per square meter, outdoor grows typically produce up to 500 grams per plant. These yields are solid and will produce some of the dankest buds you have ever seen.
- Harvest: Outdoor growers can plan on harvesting their yields around the middle of October, depending on when the seeds were planted.
Ginger Ale: Refreshing
The Ginger Ale cannabis strain terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes, and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is caryophyllene, while limonene and pinene are the secondary terpenes.
- Caryophyllene: Most Dominant – This is known as the spicy or peppery terpene and can be found in cloves, black pepper, and cannabis plants.
- Limonene: Secondary Terpene – Limonene is found mostly in the rinds of citrus fruits such as lemons and oranges.
- Pinene: Pine Needles – Pinene can be found in conifer trees, pine needles, and cannabis plants and is known for its fresh and pine-like fragrance.
