Growing Tips for Buckeye Purple
Buckeye Purple isn’t ideal for first-time growers, but if you’ve got some experience, it can be a rewarding cultivar. These plants grow best indoors, where you can keep the climate stable—around 70–80°F with 40–50% humidity. Outdoors, a greenhouse is your best bet to avoid unpredictable weather.
Expect short, bushy plants (about 3 feet tall) with bold purple hues, long leaves, and sticky trichomes. You can fit several in a small space for better yields. Screen of Green (ScrOG), topping, and low-stress training (LST) all work well to manage the height and boost bud production.
Keep light cycles at 18–20 hours for veg, then flip to 12/12 to kickstart flowering.
Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest
- Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect the Buckeye Purple strain to harvest after a short flowering period of 50-60 days.
- Yields: While Indoor yields are around 450 grams per square meter, outdoor grows typically produce up to 450 grams per plant. The moderate yields are fantastic when you consider the potency of the harvested buds.
- Harvest: Outdoor growers can plan on harvesting their yields around the beginning of October, depending on when the seeds were planted.
Buckeye Purple: Vibrant Purple Buds
The Buckeye Purple terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes, and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is caryophyllene, while humulene and limonene are the secondary terpenes.
- Caryophyllene: Most Dominant – Spicy and peppery, this terpene can be found in cinnamon, black pepper, cloves, and cannabis.
- Humulene: Secondary Terpene – Found in beer with high hop content and cannabis plants. It gives weed its earthy smell and taste.
- Limonene: Citrusy – Found mostly in the rinds of citrus fruits, limonene can help reduce anxiety and improve lung function when found in cannabis plants.

About 6 weeks into my grow….plants are about 3′ tall and they look amazing so far. Long green-purple sun branches and a thick stem. No buds as of yet, but a delicious berry smell starting to emanate from the plant. I can tell they’re about to have another huge growth spurt, but I am just happy to have them in my garden. There ain’t nothing wrong with a little buckeye purple in the morning! This weed is strong in flavor and super chill in design. I was just honored to have a chance to grow it at home….FINALLY!
