Growing Tips for East Coast Sour Diesel
East Coast Sour Diesel can be successfully cultivated by growers with limited experience. East Coast Sour Diesel marijuana plants will thrive indoors and outdoors, but have an easier time growing indoors because of the ability to completely control the climate. If you choose to grow indoors, you will have to replicate a steady environment similar to the climate of the Mediterranean. East Coast Sour Diesel cannabis seeds grow into plants with thin branches and stems propping up dense purple and green buds. The leaves are long and stand out next to the thinner limbs of this strain. If you choose to grow outdoors, you will need to hope for consistent temperature and humidity to grow these plants to completion. Doing so will ensure that you grow healthy buds from the top of the plants to the buds closest to the soil. Having access to a greenhouse is the best way to give these plants the perfect outdoor climate without having to put up with unexpecㄇted outdoor variables. These plants grow to a medium/tall height and can reach around 2-8 feet tall. Because the plants reach a maximum indoor and outdoor height of 8 feet, they require ample vertical space to grow to completion. The ideal temperature for these plants is around 70-85 degrees Fahrenheit and slightly cooler at night. Humidity levels should be kept around 30-70% during the vegetative growth stage and the flowering stage, but lowering the humidity every week will help this plant grow. Growing indoors will ensure that the moderate humidity levels and moderate temperatures are consistent and maintained every day that the plants are in the growing stages. Topping, Screen of Green (ScrOG), and Low-stress training (LST) methods are the best training techniques for this particular strain of cannabis. If performed correctly and at the right time, these techniques will promote bud production and increase final yields. Topping will help to adjust the canopy so more air and light reach the lowest buds. LST manipulates the plant to increase the size and density of the buds. Screen of Green will reinforce the heavier bud sites, and this is important with a strain like East Coast Sour Diesel, where the limbs are very thin and can bend or break easily. The East Coast Sour Diesel strain requires an 18-20 hour light cycle to reach the vegetative growth stage. Changing the light cycle to a 12/12 cycle will induce the flowering stage of growth and get you to your harvest date.
Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest
- Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect the East Coast Sour Diesel strain to harvest after a flowering period of 60-70 days.
- Yields: While Indoor yields are around 450 grams per square meter, outdoor grows typically produce up to 450 grams per plant. These yields are impressive considering the size of the plants.
- Harvest: Outdoor growers can plan on harvesting their yields around the end of October, depending on when the seeds were planted.
East Coast Sour Diesel: Dank Diesel Citrus
The East Coast Sour Diesel cannabis strain terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes, and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is caryophyllene, while myrcene and limonene are the secondary terpenes.
- Caryophyllene: Most Dominant – Spicy and peppery, caryophyllene is mostly found in cloves, black pepper, and cannabis plants.
- Myrcene: Secondary Terpene – Myrcene is responsible for some cannabis strains’ earthy and woody flavor and aroma.
- Limonene: Citrus Taste and Smell – Limonene is found in the rinds of citrus fruits like lemons and oranges, as well as cannabis cultivars.

Planted these seeds and they grew up fast and cute. The buds? Sweet and mild, with a hint of spice. And the high? Gentle and relaxing, like a warm hug.

I love that these feminized seeds are guaranteed to produce female plants.

One of my favorite things about this MJ is how easy it is to grow. Feminized seeds are my favorite because I already know what’s going to grow, and I don’t have to spend time removing male plants. There’s no accidental pollination issues, so that’s one less thing for me to worry about as a grower!

You read the name right. This weed is straight out of the 90s. East comptom, weed you’d buy at the subway stop for $5 a gram lol. Now I can grow it at home and at a fraction of the cost. Definitely a great buy, just wish I had it sooner. Makes living a little less painful and a little more happy 🙂

East Coast Sour Diesel has quickly become one of my favorite strains. The energizing and uplifting effects are perfect for a daytime pick-me-up, and the citrusy taste is refreshing. I found it easy to grow and was impressed with the yield. Highly recommend for those looking for a balanced hybrid strain.

A fresh blend of different vibes. On the one hand you have the intensely sour, extremely delicious diesel flavor and then you settle into this high and are just vibing on the indica wave which brings you back to baseline. I love working with Pacific seeds, it’s always a win, especially since their products are so reliable and ship so quickly :))

This strain is an amazing Sativa forward Indica hybrid with a medium level high. For those that want a chill smoke I think this is great. Nice diesel-like woody scents and is not too hard to grow. Although if you’re looking for a quick-growing plant maybe skip this one. Took me about 10 weeks.

These seeds have been in my garden for 4 weeks and have grown quite well. Very healthy and seems like they are on the right track to give me great yields in the near future. Pacific had great shipping and the seed quality was great as all my seeds germinated and sprouted!

Even with East Coast Sour taking me 10 weeks to grow I was quite happy with the results and the weed I got from it. From the uplifting high to the smooth diesel hit everything about smoking this was an enjoyable experience.

Been a huge fan of east coast sour diesel since I lived in Boston. I appreciate the light, chemical high of this weed and am happy to know I can access this nostalgic MJ on the west coast. I live in Seattle and do most of my growing indoors. It’s pretty chilly here in the winter time, and spring takes a long time to get going, so it’s better to simply have an LED setup in my apartment. The plants don’t seem to mind!

So much flavor, you’d never expect this much color and flavor from a homegrown weed, but East Coast Sour D really takes it to the next level. That was awesome and delicious! Buy your MJ online and expect great results. Fresh to death and very nice! I love MJ!!

Hey man, growing weed isn’t all about being on the west coast, the east coast has a lot going on too! Luckily Pacific carries my favorite strain, the east coast sour diesel! Excellent colors and sour flavor on this one. Helps me deal with stress and anxiety and usually puts me in a good mood for sleep. Never had an issue with shipping or germination. Very happy I got this weed!

If you have had a looong night, maybe partying, maybe stressing, East coast sour D is the best way to feel alive and well the next day. I bought 10 seeds online and they were here at my NYC home in 2 weeks! I was able to successfully germinate 9/10 seeds!!! They were fast growers too, very reliable and seemingly very happy. It was so much fun to harvest with my girlfriend. No problem!!

Makes the rounds at parties. Good for growing for your stoner pothead friends lol. I like it myself but mostly just enjoy the growing process. My gf does most of the smoking, and based on how high she is all the time I am guessing she’s a fan? Either way, was a great birthday gift!

Honestly, I feel like much of the conversation surrounds west coast mj strains and no credit is given to the east coast growers who really master the diesel strains like this one. Nothing like east coast diesel. This weed is stanky and harsh, and it hits like a charm. Always gets me stoned and makes me happy 🙂

I don’t know what it is, but I always associate Diesel strains with being on the East Coast, walking around NYC or Boston. It’s a pungent strain, and it hits pretty hard. Make sure you have SOME experience growing before just trying this one out, it likes a different climate than most weeds out there. Gonna purchase some more mj soon cause my stash is running lowwwww.

Mmmmm what a beautiful purple strain, with long green leaves, so bright and beautiful. Perfect for a long-time insomniac like myself. Been working a long time on perfecting my grow setup and I feel like I have been getting really close. Reminds me of tromping around Queens haha. Miss those Bodegas man. But west coast living for ever.
