Growing Tips for Blackwater Auto
Blackwater Auto is an easy strain to grow, even if you don’t have any prior experience growing your own cannabis plants. The strain is very low maintenance and is a great selection for first-time cultivators who are looking to gain much-needed experience in horticulture. Blackwater Auto marijuana plants will thrive both indoors and outdoors, but have an easier time growing indoors because of the grower’s ability to control the climate. If you are going to grow indoors, you will have to replicate a warm, sunny environment similar to the climate of the Mediterranean region.
Blackwater Auto produces dense Indica buds as long as they receive ample fresh air and direct sunlight, and high-quality, nutrient-rich soil. If you are going to grow outdoors, you will need to maintain a consistent temperature and humidity to get these plants to harvest. Having access to a greenhouse is the best way to give these plants the perfect outdoor climate they require without having to put up with unexpected outdoor variables.
Because these plants can grow to be upwards of 8 feet tall, they require a ton of vertical space to grow without limitations. The ideal temperature for these plants is around 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity levels should be kept at 45-62% during the vegetative stage and slowly decreased into the flowering stage of growth. Growing indoors will ensure that the medium humidity levels are reached every day that the plants are in the growing stages.
Topping, Low-stress training (LST), and the Screen of Green (ScrOG) methods are the best training techniques for the specific strain of cannabis. Each of these methods helps control the plant’s height while also reinforcing the heaviest buds so that they don’t break or bend the branches. These methods will ultimately increase your yields come harvest time. The Blackwater Auto strain requires an 18-20 hour light cycle to reach the vegetative stage of growth, but does not require a change in the light cycle to induce the flowering stage. Because this strain is autoflowering, it will reach the flowering stage on its own, adding to the ease of this grow.
Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest
- Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect the Blackwater Auto strain to harvest after a flowering period of 55-65 days.
- Yields: While Indoor yields are around 450 grams per square meter, outdoor grows typically produce up to 550 grams per plant. The yields of this strain are fantastic and a welcome reward for a job well done. This strain is perfect for first-time growers looking for an easier strain to grow.
- Harvest: Outdoor growers can plan on harvesting their yields around the middle of October, depending on when the seeds were planted.
Blackwater Auto: Fruity and Complex
The Blackwater Auto terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes, and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is caryophyllene, while limonene, delta-3 carene, and myrcene are the secondary terpenes.
- Caryophyllene: Most Dominant – Known as a spicy and peppery terpene, caryophyllene is most commonly found in cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, and cannabis plants.
- Myrcene: Secondary Terpene – The “Mother of all Terpenes”, myrcene gives cannabis its earthy flavor and aroma. Myrcene can be found in several cannabis strains.
- Limonene: Fresh Citrus – Found mostly in the rinds of citrus fruits, limonene is known for helping to decrease anxiety and can improve lung function when found in cannabis.
- Delta-3 Carene: Sweet and Earthy – Also found in pine, cedar, basil, and rosemary, this terpene is known for being sweet, earthy, citrusy, and pine-like in aroma and flavor.

Germination took off without a hitch, and I couldn’t have asked for better plant health throughout the grow cycle.
The sweet, fruity perfume was nothing short of divine, and the high was the ideal combination of relaxation and moderate bliss. It’s like being on a cloud of flavored happiness.
As the plants matured, I couldn’t believe how resinous the buds were—definitely a sign of quality. When harvest time came, I was rewarded with a bountiful crop that sparked my excitement for my next grow.
These seeds were like a little bit of tranquility wrapped in a blueberry blanket. From the first puff, I was wrapped in a relaxing wave of serenity that washed away the day’s stress.
Takes a while for flower to form. Blackwater is a slow moving animal…..usually takes 4 months or so to see buds….until then the plant requires weekly maintenance, watering, pruning, etc. If you LOVE weed, and really enjoy growing it, then give this a try. But if you’re not the most patient grower and you want your weed NOW….well, maybe find a faster strain 😉
Nice choice…..kinda different! I liked the smell and taste and it’s kinda bitter and earthy, not quite like anything I have ever tasted before. Just glad I finally am done spending $$ at the dispo and instead am investing in homegrowing techniques. It’s a great way to invest in yourself and save yourself a few dollars in the long-run. Brilliant color and flavor, makes me feel really hungry LOL. Good for the time being and will probably stay fresh for a few months.
Blackwater Autoflowering Feminized Seeds offer an intriguing and mysterious strain that is perfect for those seeking relaxation and stress relief. With a potent indica-dominant blend, this Blackwater strain is ideal for zoning out and enjoying a calming body high. The seeds from Original Harvest Seeds have proven to be of excellent quality, with all of them successfully germinating.
Makes me heavy tired yo….but definitely worth it in my book. Takes a few extra weeks to cultivate (usually about 4 months in total) but gives me a fresh and exceptional yield!
The ultimate do-nothing strain….has a bitter earthy flavor and a harsh smoke….can you handle it? A few hits of Blackwater and you are out for the count. This MJ is strong, not for everyone, but it grows nice and compact in any garden, never getting too big or falling over!! Requires consistent upkeep, like almost every day, but definitely a win for homegrowers everywhere!
Don’t be intimidated by the name or the growing profile, this weed is fun to work with both indoors and out. I am lucky enough to have a small greenhouse which makes weed growing so much easier, but now I am getting ambitious and setting up a hydroponic setup, absolutely brilliant and fresh. Can’t wait for the next go-around!
