Growing Tips for Black Betty
Black Betty plants are considered tricky to grow, even if you have prior experience growing and cultivating your own cannabis plants. The strain grows well indoors and outdoors, but is easier to grow indoors because you can give it the correct climate without worrying about the changes in heat and humidity that you would run into outdoors. Indoor grows require nutrient-rich soil and high-quality lighting to produce the desired buds the plant is known for. If you are growing your plants outdoors, your best bet for a hefty yield is to grow the plants in a greenhouse. If you don’t have access to a greenhouse, then you will need to carve out a good weather window to ensure the temperatures don’t dip below what the plants require to grow big and strong. These plants tend to grow medium to tall. Both indoor and outdoor grows require that you mimic the natural growing climate of the Black Betty strain. A Mediterranean-like climate is best suited for growing these plants. The ideal temperature for these plants is around 70-85 degrees Fahrenheit. This strain prefers higher humidity to reach its peak growth. Humidity levels should be kept around 50-60% during the vegetative stage and maintained at 40-50% during the flowering stage of growth. Keeping the humidity levels below 60% will help keep mold and mildew off your plants. Utilizing methods like Low-stress training (LST) and topping will help your plants grow to fruition. These methods will optimize plant growth by trimming the branches that aren’t producing quality buds. These training techniques will increase the overall yields of this plant during harvest time. Black Betty plants require an 18-20 hour light cycle to reach the vegetative stage of growth. You will need to change the light cycle to a 12/12 cycle to induce the flowering stage of growth. This light cycle will ultimately get you to the harvest phase of this strain.
Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest
- Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect the Black Betty strain to harvest after a short flowering period of 55-65 days.
- Yields: While Indoor yields are around 350 grams per square meter, outdoor grows typically produce up to 450 grams per plant. The yields for the Black Betty plants are pretty good, considering they take less time to flower than other cannabis varieties.
- Harvest: Outdoor growers can plan on harvesting their yields around the middle of October, depending on when the seeds were planted.
Black Betty: Skunky Sweet Citrus
The Black Betty terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes, and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is caryophyllene, while myrcene and limonene are the secondary terpenes.
- Caryophyllene: Most Dominant – One of the most common terpenes in the cannabis world, it is known for being spicy and peppery on the tongue.
- Myrcene: Secondary Terpene – A monoterpene that is known in the cannabis world as the “Mother of All Terpenes”.
- Limonene: Citrus Flavor – Most commonly found in the rinds of citrus fruits, the limonene terpene helps to combat anxiety and will improve lung function when found in cannabis plants.

This experience has transformed my perspective on cannabis, and I cannot wait to grow again—purely euphoric!
I had been searching for a well-rounded hybrid because I love both sativa and indica effects and hate to pick between the two. Once I called customer service, they led me to Black Betty, so I happily ordered. I just got them and can’t wait to plant them and get started.
A favorite of mine. Glad I was able t work with these seeds. I bought them online, got them shipped to my location. They germinated beautifully. I was honestly impressed by the whole thing. Pacific is extremely reliable and with great customer service. They talk to me on the phone and give me actual advice, so nice to talk to an actual person!!
The high potency of this strain may not be suitable for novice smokers. Whether you enjoy the sativa side for a euphoric and alert experience or the indica side for muscle relaxation, Black Betty has got you covered.
Hey all! I just finished my EPIC harvest week here in the Northwest….got some pretty exciting nug out of this plant….totally gunked up my tools though haha! Great experience working with PSB, their seeds are GREAT and they ship so quickly I hardly have to think about it. Gonna be a real humdinger of a summer…growing 10 plants this coming season….what am I gonna do with all this weed besides smoke A LOT of it. Think I might get into baking or tinctures….either way, LOTS to love here.
Love everything about it. Seeds germinated quick and came on strong. Nice aroma and perfect day or night. This will be the 3rd year I’ve grown the plant. It’s very balanced…energy and calm at the same time and it last long with out the memory loss. In fact, it helps me focus. My all time favorite.
