5th Element: Robust Buds
5th Element seeds will grow into medium to tall plants between 5-8 feet tall, depending on the setting. Those plants are bushy and very green. The leaves are long and wide and create an umbrella or canopy above the lower bud sites. The top buds, the ones that get the most direct sunlight, appear to be off white and even yellow, but that it because of the brightly colored pistils growing out of every inch of this plant. A closer inspection reveals that the plant is coated with crystal resin trichomes. These trichomes add to the skunky and earthy aroma this plant puts out into the atmosphere. The harvested nuggets are dense and bright green with amber and orange hues. Even though this strain has yet to take home any major awards within the cannabis community, it doesn’t reflect how popular this strain is. Folks have written dozens of great reviews on not only growing this strain but also using this strain for recreational and medicinal purposes. 5th Element cannabis has won some smaller local awards in places like California and Colorado, but the larger Cannabis Cup awards have eluded this strain. For now.
Growing Tips for Our Seeds
5th Element is a tricky strain to grow and requires prior experience in cannabis cultivation to really thrive. It prefers a warm, Mediterranean-like climate with tons of sunlight and fresh air to hit its taller-than-average 8 feet in an outdoor grow. Indoors you can expect this plant to top out around 5-6 feet in height. If you have an intermediate amount of growing experience, then you should have no trouble bringing this strain to fruition, and when you do, you will be rewarded with solid yields of top-tier bud. You’ll need to give this strain a little extra TLC to ensure it reaches its highest potential.
Dial in Your Growing Conditions
- Indoor or Outdoor: 5th Element cannabis plants can be grown indoors and outdoors by experienced growers. The ideal temperature for these plants is between 70-85 degrees Fahrenheit. During the vegetative stage, utilize an 18-to 20-hour light schedule. Changing to a 12/12 light schedule will induce the flowering stage of growth and get you all the way to harvest.
- Moisture control: Humidity levels of approximately 70% during the vegetative phase, gradually decreasing to 40% or lower during the flowering stage. This change in humidity will help keep mold off of your plants.
- Training Techniques: Low-stress training or LST, Sea of Green, and topping are the best methods for this strain. These methods help adjust the plant’s leaves so that ample light and air can reach the bottom of the plant. It also helps to increase yield numbers to reach their full potential.
Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest
- Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect the 5th Element strain to harvest after a short flowering period of 50-60 days. Outdoor growers should be ready for harvest sometime near the beginning to middle of October, depending on when you planted your seeds.
- Yields: While Indoor yields are around 350 grams per square meter, outdoor grows typically produce up to 350 grams per plant. While these yields are on the smaller side, you must take into consideration how potent these buds are. If you can plant more than one 5th Element plant you should double these numbers through the same short flowering time.
Dominant Terpenes in 5th Element: Earthy and Woodsy
The 5th Element terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is myrcene, while limonene and caryophyllene are secondary terpenes.
- Myrcene: Most Dominant – The “Mother of all Terpenes”, myrcene has an earthy and woodsy aroma and flavor to it.
- Limonene: Secondary Terpene – Found in the rinds of citrus fruits, this terpene can improve lung function when found in cannabis.
- Caryophyllene: Spicy and Peppery – Found in cinnamon and black pepper, this terpene adds a bit of spice to the cannabis plant.
Dominant Cannabinoids in 5th Element:
Cannabinoids play an important role in 5th Element seeds and are generally a huge part of most strains of cannabis. That creative, relaxed, and euphoric feeling you get when enjoying the 5th Element strain is due to its dominant cannabinoids. Each cannabinoid does something different to the user.
- THC: The Main Character – THC is the most dominant cannabinoid on the molecular level of this strain. The crystalline compound tetrahydrocannabinol is the main ingredient of cannabis. Topping out at a massive 25%, the THC in this Indica-dominant strain is responsible for the happy and euphoric feeling you get when enjoying 5th Element cannabis.
- CBD: Very Minimal Amounts – While the CBD levels in 5th Element are around 3%, the cannabinoid is still present, and the effects are noticeable in this strain. CBD plays a smaller role in what the strain does to the user. CBD is non-psychoactive and can produce effects that help with anxiety, sleep, pain, and even stress. The CBD in the 5th Element strain, even in its lower amounts, definitely has a positive effect on the user.
